Dog treat and food health concerns

“FDA: Nearly 1,000 Pets Sickened by China-Made Dog Treats,” “Salmonella scare causes recall of dog treats,” and “China's Melamine Woes Likely to Get Worse” are just a few concerning headlines that keep me up at night. How do I know that my dog is getting healthy food and treats?

The reality is that it is really hard to be 100% certain unless you are growing your own food for yourself and your pets. Obviously, not a lot of us can do that. But not to worry (as much!) as there are many precautions that you can take. Checking the ingredients of treats, knowing origin of products, understanding what all of the ingredients actually mean, navigating through deceptive marketing, and reviewing manufacturers’ production philosophy are just a few of the items on the checklist. Honestly it is a bit of a daunting list of items to go through and takes a fair amount of time and effort to educated about each of these topics. So one way you can shortcut the process is by using the products that Meat Mutt uses in our monthly boxes.

And that’s why we have created Meat Mutt as a service...because it takes education and time to really identify good products for your pup (or your friend’s pups).
